NFL Picks: Season 3 Registration

Hello everyone, and welcome back to NFL Picks!

It may only be the end of July, but I think it would be a good idea to let everyone out there know that we have a little contest we do here on the website called "NFL Picks." Very standard name, I know. What we simply do is have everyone pick who they feel will win each game week to week throughout the NFL season. Each normal pick is worth one point, and the person who has the most points after the Super Bowl wins!

We don't play for prizes, we play for fun. The contest is simply to see who has the best knowledge and foresight into the NFL, as well as the best luck.

If you're interested, here are the basic rules of NFL picks:
  • All normal picks throughout the season are worth one point. After Week 10, four to five lopsided games are chosen as "upset specials," where if somebody chooses the underdog in the matchup and that team wins, you will receive a bonus of two points.
  • All picks are to be posted in the comment section of the post we're currently on. The picks are to be posted prior to kickoff of the particular game you're picking for. If a pick is made after kickoff of the game, it won't count.
  • Following the Monday night football game for that week, Jerhawk, with the help of his trusty assistant Deus Legend, will add up the points in his special Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and post the points earned that week.
  • Bonus point opportunities will come up throughout the season, which includes picking division winners and your super bowl winner at the beginning of the season. Playoff points are worth more points as we progress through the postseason.
That's the basics of it, and more will be explained as we get closer to the NFL season. We're obviously over a month away from the start of the season, but it's right around the corner.

If you'd like to sign up for this season of NFL Picks, please post a comment on this post with your Xbox Gamertag so I'll know who you are. Thank you!

Robbed in Madden 11 :(

Simply speechless after this.

Madden 11: Super Bowl Celebration

SPOILER ALERT: If you just want to wait until you win the Super Bowl, then don't watch this video.

But to those who do watch it, what do you think is more strange about this video: 1.) One of the top plays in the game is an extra point 2.) They have Roger Goodell 3.) The Jaguars are in the Super Bowl 4.) They have Barack Obama? What?

Reading on the Xbox forums, some people weren't happy with the surprise appearance of our President in the game.
I must say, after playing the demo for Madden, this is by far the greatest improvement they made from last year to this year's version. That's really sad if the best improvement they had was a Super Bowl victory video, something that they should've had in the game years ago.

Madden 11: Tim Tebow Highlights

I was looking forward to Madden until I saw these two plays. Thanks EA! There are several gameplay errors on both of these plays which makes me scratch my head and ask, "Why? Why are we buying this game?"

And a voice whispers in my ear: "Because it's Madden."

Blazenhawks- I like that they added the kinect with the new xbox 360 in a bundle but do they they have to make the hard drive a 4GB that's the worst idea that they have ever had

Your thoughts on NCAA 11

NCAA has been out for 5 days now we want to know what you think. Here are some of my thought this game is better than last year but that was not hard. I like the new Animation and the new online Dynasty the thing i hate is way to may glitches and bugs. They did not change the road to glory which is lame and the commentary is old but overall i would give the game a B-

NCAA Football 11 Review

Overall NCAA Football 11 is a great game of pigskin that hardcore college football fans are really going to enjoy. The core gameplay has been taken to the next level with some cool animation varieties as well as sweeping changes like the elimination of turbo and adding dual analog control. On the field all of these nuances come together with the new look to make a cool, original-feeling game. However, if you don't take advantage of the connectivity offered by Online Dynasty, then the list of modes is going to feel outright dated. If you do take advantage of the new features in Online Dynasty, you're in for a lot of fun with only a few frustrations.

The complete, $60 package of NCAA Football 11 is the best that the series has produced in some time. Here's hoping that EA Sports builds out Road to Glory and the core Dynasty Mode to give them the same fresh feeling that the gameplay now enjoys.

IGN Ratings for NCAA Football 11 (X360)
Rating Description
out of 10
9.0 Presentation
New menu designs and enhanced ESPN integration is wonderful and adds quite a lot to the experience. Field-level instant replays are neat, too.
8.5 Graphics
Player models look great, but crowd members could be more detailed. Framerate hitches and clipping are rare, but overall the in-game action looks fantastic with smooth animations and interactions.
7.5 Sound
The crowd is more alive than ever, but Herbstreit and Nessler could use a healthy dose of personality as well as some fresh dialogue.
9.0 Gameplay
The new animations and control mechanics work wonderfully with the AI improvements to make this the best playing football game in history.
8.0 Lasting Appeal
The list of modes benefits greatly from better Online Dynasty functionality, but it needs some new life in other areas.
8.5
OVERALL
